Pink Apple Laptops - The Newest Way to Jazz Up Your Computer

If you do an online search for pink Apple laptops, you'll find yourself looking at thousands of page results. Why are they so very popular? Maybe it is because Mac laptops have always been durable, reliable and affordable... and now they're pink too! What could be more fun than a pink laptop?

Traditionally, laptops, just like the larger desktop computers, have been dull and unexciting. Black, grey and beige. Yawn. If you're only concerned with functionality and performance, fine. But what if you also want something unique and stylish? Something that screams "I'm an individual!"

If you think about it, it is just the natural course of events that pink Apple laptops would be a popular item. Take a look at cell phones. Way back when they were new, they were nothing special to see. Large, unattractive and bulky, they were more like a walkie talkie. As time passed, however, cell phones became sleeker and more sexy. Now they also come in bright colors, and some you can change the skins on to change their look with your mood. So why not do the same thing with laptops?

Laptops are no longer just a novelty item. Almost everyone has a laptop now, just like cell phones. They are a part of everyday life. Once only affordable for the wealthy or extravagant person... these days even college and high school students have laptops. They're at the office, the coffee shop, the bus, the airplane. As they become more common, people will want to start making them more individualized to express their personalities.

That's exactly what pink Apple laptops offer - individuality. Okay, maybe most of Susie's classmates have laptops, but are they pink? I would guess not. And maybe David can get the attention he wishes for if he had hot pink electronics that everyone admired. Laptops are no longer just for computing... they are a fashion statement that helps make you stand out in a crowd.

When you consider all this, it is easy to see why pink Apple laptops are so popular and trendy. They're edgy, cute, and yes, even a little eccentric. Boring electronics - begone! Let today's laptops be all about style, color and personality! It won't be surprising to see many more people sporting bright pink laptops. But then... what will be the next laptop trend? Tiger stripes?

Wireless The Freedom

The wireless Internet laptop allows you the freedom to roam away with AC outlets. But it is the built-in Wi-Fi wireless feature often found in Pentium M laptops that gives you the power to connect to the Internet and send and receive email from wherever you are, without wires. Hotpots are appearing everywhere.

Wireless Internet laptop networking has made the leap from dream to reality. Nearly every mobile device on the market features some kind of wireless connectivity or at least support for it. Sorting through the available standards may seem tricky, but it is not. Basically there are two kinds of wireless connectivity : Blue tooth and Wi-Fi.

Wi-Fi, also known as 802.11, is the older, more established wireless standard. It is also faster and has a longer range than Blue tooth. This extended range opens a vast range of possibilities. Many public areas can be outfitted with WiFi antennas to extend the wireless Internet laptop operating range for use in public areas. Using WiFi for Internet access from your laptop, you can go on line and send email from airports, hotels and coffee shops. This will be the fastest-growing segment of WiFi service, as more and more travelers and mobile professionals seek fast and secure Internet access wherever they are.

Wireless Internet Laptop Bluetooth is meant for short range jobs, such as connecting a PDA to a cell phone or a cell phone to a laptop. It is great for syncing address books and small files between devices. Blue tooth is not well suited for data networking because of its limited range and lower speeds, but it is useful for handheld and mobile phone accessories.

Laptops, Video Systems and Audio Systems have lots of peripheral devices that connect by wires and cables. If you have looked at back of your computer desk, it can be noticed that it looks like a major tangle of wires. Each wire has a particular connector and each connector follows certain protocols. Blue tooth's aim is to get rid of those wires. Companies that manufacture PC, notebooks, entertainment systems and other electronic devices have realized that the enormous array of cables and connectors involved in their products will confuse most consumers. Setting up PC, laptop and home-theater systems can be difficult when the person buying the equipment has to learn and remember all the details of what wire goes from where to where.

Latest Eye Candy From Apple - Is As Thin As Air!

Apple has always been known for its revolutionary MacBooks, and this year, it has launched its newest line. The MacBook Air is breaking grounds for ultra portable laptops. MacBook Air's engineering and design is extraordinary, weighing only 3.0 pounds! It is now the world's thinnest laptop. Another wonderful feature of this notebook is its remote disc function, allowing the Air to remotely use optical drives from other systems as long as they are on the same network, it doesn't matter if it is done on a PC or Mac. The Air has the same 1,280x800 resolution display offered by the standard 13-inch MacBook, but with thinner lid and brighter image.

You will be glad to know that the MacBook Air comes standard with 2GB of RAM. Though it is incredibly thin, the Air is surprisingly sturdy. Thanks to its aluminum chassis. Other features of MacBook Air include iSight camera and mic, and a LED-backlight display that automatically adjusts to the light in the room. The downside of this new release is that it only has one USB port, does not have built-in optical drives no firewall and no Ethernet.

You need to consider if the wafer-thin feature is a reasonable substitute for the complete package you could get from an average laptop or from the standard 13' MACbook. Choosing this juicy device depends on your lifestyle and preference, for those whose occupation require multiple USB slots, full protection , they may have to think twice before being captivated by its beauty, yet for people who live in wifi spots, and does not need much wired connectivity they will surely find MACbook Air a worthwhile wonder.

Education Key in Slowing Laptop Theft

Corporations spend billions of dollars each year repeating the same message over and over. It's called advertising and it works. A similar approach, according to a recent Processor story, stands the best chance of slowing the never ending tide of stolen laptops: Keep telling employees that they have to guard their machines, and keep telling them how to do it.

Security, of course, is not at the forefront of every employee's mind. Indeed, people take dumb chances. They leave machines unattended when they go to the rest room in a public venue. They leave them lying on the front seat of an unlocked car when they run into a store. The theme of the Processor piece is that continually drilling best practices and corporate policies into the heads of employees may gradually mitigate this behavior. It's important because the problem is so big: The Safeware Insurance Agency reports that more than 600,000 machines are stolen annually. About $5.4 billion in proprietary information is lost, and 97 percent of the purloined machines are lost forever.

The story also provides advice on issues tangentially related to stopping theft, such as the importance of management systems to track machines and the use of strong passwords and other strategies to thwart criminals when they do succeed in stealing the machines.

The problem of companies not even knowing if a machine is lost or stolen goes hand-in-hand with theft prevention. The centerpiece of a recent Canadian Technology News story is a study by Absolute Software that spotlights some disturbing malfeasance by respondents: 62 percent say that missing computers aren't even noticed and another 20 percent say that nothing is done about breaches.

Innovative tools are available, however. The bulk of the piece describes how Absolute Software tracks, manages and recovers wayward computers. The story provides a common-sense rationale for use of such software: Regardless of the impact it has on outside criminals, it is certain to chill internal theft simply because employees will know that it is there.

This PC World story reports on a product that is available in the UK. It is a modern-day equivalent of the prologue from the old Mission: Impossible television show, in which the tape detailing the ridiculous assignment Jim and the gang will pull off in 60 minutes (minus commercials) starts burning seconds after delivery its message. In this case, Virtuity's BackStopp will wipe data off hard disks if the machine is taken from an unauthorized area. The surveillance is done via the Internet, Wi-Fi or Global System for Mobile communication or radio frequency identification if the laptop is turned off.

The story adds that if a machine has a Webcam, it can be instructed to take a picture of the presumptive thief and transmit it to the central office. The data destruction procedures, which meet standards set by the U.S. Department of Defense's National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual, occur without alerting the thief.

A somewhat similar initiative, this one in India, is Locate Laptop from Unistal Systems. The software reports its location whenever it logs on. Thus, the owner or his or her company visit a Web portal to get a fix on a stolen machine. The IT Nerd provides a lot of useful links: iAlertU, Laptop Alarm, Lojack For Laptops and, for physically securing a laptop, Kensington Cable. The writer concludes that the best way to stop laptop theft is cutting down the amount of time the machine is left unattended.

There is good news and bad news in all this. The good news is that there is a lot of technology aimed at securing, managing, finding and, when necessary, disabling laptops. The bad news is that there are many people stealing laptops - and many corporate workers who are not paying attention.

Laptop thefts are costly. Read about the cost of Nashville laptop thefts: http://www.itbusinessedge.com/item/?ci=37828

Keeping Powered Up

It may seem an obvious thing to say but when it comes to a notebook computer the battery is the thing that really makes it work. Many people know this, but they forget that the battery only has a certain life span, and at some point you'll probably need to replace it if you want your notebook to keep working at the performance level that you require. This article will look at some of the considerations you need to bear in mind when you're looking to find a cheap deal for your laptop battery needs.

The first thing that you should remember is that you need to exercise care when you're looking for a battery at the cheap end of the market. One of the first things you need to bear in mind is that the shape and the overall design of the battery needs to fit in with the notebook you have. For instance, a cheap battery pack that you bought for a Toshiba notebook may not fit in with the overall design, and so when you go to buy a battery for this make, or any other make for that matter, it is a good idea to take the laptop along with you to the store and make sure that it definitely fits in the housing provided.

The second thing that you need to make sure is that the size of the battery is not such that it will short circuit the laptop itself. You can do a lot of damage to the internal mechanism of a notebook by choosing the wrong battery size and this is something that should be avoided at all costs.

Another thing that is a major consideration when you buy a laptop battery is that the voltage is absolutely correct for your particular model. There are many different types of computer accessory on the market nowadays, and some of them may be made in places where manufacturing standards are not as high as those in others. Make sure that the voltage is just right, because the wrong type of voltage can really do some damage and you could end up completely ruining your laptop all for the sake of buying the cheap battery.

When you go to buy a battery for your laptop make sure that it is one which is being manufactured by a company that is recommended by the actual makeup of the laptop itself. In this way you will avoid any kind of complications which could end up to be an expensive mistake.

Laptops Battery Life

The battery life and the laptop battery care is another most important topic which one must have to care so as to have longer battery life. Normally the batteries which the manufacturers provide with the Laptops are Li-Ion or Li-Polymer these are rechargeable batteries and can give you optimum backup even you are working on battery packs. But the main thing is tat how to optimize it to make it work more efficiently.

The common term when we talk about Battery in Laptops is the Depth of Discharge (DOD). Depth of Discharge (DOD) is the amount that a battery is run down to before it is put back on charge. For a notebook this can vary enormously. Many machines are only run down to 70% battery during short stints of battery power (known as a shallow DOD), others are discharged completely to 10% or 5% (known as deep DOD), this is when the notebook switches off or warns about low battery.

Now another technical aspect is the charge cycle. A charge cycle is a cycle of running the battery down and then charging it up again. One charge cycle is classified as when the battery is run down to 70% or less and then charged again to 90% or more. A battery does not have to be discharged until it is flat before a charge cycle is used.

The other main factor that affects battery life is temperature, the hotter the battery the less charge cycles it will run for, the industry suggestions are that a battery is run at between 10 and 30 degrees centigrade. It should be noted that it may be hotter inside the notebook where the battery is than in the room where it is being used.

The battery life and rechargeable ability of a particular type of batteries like Li-Ion varies but these are more than enough for you before going for its replacement. Always try to have a look at your battery packs how much backup they provide and time of full charge. This is done so as to check if the batteries are becoming old or demanding for the replacement or what. If possible always try to use Power Supply while working on Laptops.

Always carry with you an extra battery pack so as to use it when you are traveling and where it is not possible to lug in to the Power Supply. If you have found that the batteries has gone old then immediately replace it with new one and never keep the old batteries in the Laptop thinking of buying the new one. This will damage your internal circuit.

2. The next step is to make the laptops breathe the fresh air. This is one of the most vital parts of Laptop care. As there are many components which are minute and have to work by consuming higher wattages a proper flow of air so as to make it cooler is the must.

3. Next one is to keep your laptop always away from oil or greases because these can short circuit he internal circuits of your laptop.

How To Protect And Beautify Your Laptop

Getting a laptop can be a rather big investment and after sinking your money to invest in a laptop, I am sure you will want to protect it from scratches and other forms of damages.

Fortunately, there is a cheap and great way to invest in the protection of your new and old laptop:

By investing in a good laptop skin.

A laptop skin is a decorative piece of vinyl with an underlying adhesive layer. The adhesive layer ensures that the laptop skin stays fastened onto the laptop cover. A good adhesive layer will usually allow for easy and clean removal of the laptop skin from the surface of your laptop.

In general, laptop skins have good scratch resistance qualities making them ideal for protecting your laptop from fresh scratches. They come in different finishes, with lamination and varnish being the most common finishes.

Also, because of the injection of certain chemicals, some high quality laptop skins can even withstand extreme heat and cold, radiation and chemical corrosion. They are even resistant to tear, water and sunlight-fade.

Good quality laptop skins typically employ the latest in high resolution image technology to render photo-realistic image quality and exceptional color density, therefore you can not only protect your laptop but also beautify it. Imagine being the envy of all the on-lookers when you are using your chic-looking laptop with a great-looking laptop skin on your laptop.

Laptop skins sold in the market typically only cover the laptop cover while protective keyboard covers are sold separately. Also, do note that the lamination layer in some lousy quality laptop skins may come off within 6 months. Therefore, it always pays to invest in a good quality laptop skins such as garskins.

If you are looking to protect your laptop or give it a new look, www.GarSkins.com provides great laptop skins for both your laptop exterior and your internal keyboard for only one affordable price.

Laptops Auctions Past Present and Future

So the world of computing is growing. Laptops aren't just for business men hoping on that next flight. Even the graduate guy that looked like he was carrying a man purse down the road. Not for just that stuffy suit and tie type of guy. No longer is it for that pretty secretary to take her boss' notations.

We have gone through the old era of laptops and lept way way forward leaps and bounds to the techie department. Personal computers in every household. Dorm rooms on the college campus no longer go with out notice either as you walk down the hallways. Every room with at least one laptop screen showing or playing there own unique sounds of an individual. In our work environments by the thousands. Everything going by way of the hyper text highway. Even writing this small article for your enjoyment is done on the five year old home PC.

So what happen to all the old laptops that are out of date. Some end up in auctions. Some handed down to children. Even some are given to the less fortunate people that can't afford them from are community leaders. I enjoy seeing the big businesses giving them away to charity.

What was the greatest and hottest yesterday is obsolete today. The money makers and consumer always half to have the newest technologies to be competitive in the on-line industry. Well as a consumer I have to say if it isn't broke don't fix it. Referring to all the big companies spending on new products all the time. Less money to share with the employee's. Guess there is pros's and con's to every story though. Hey I wouldn't be making money if there wasn't a supply and demand for laptops.

So what is the computing technology (i.e. laptop) going to bring us for are future? Heads up displays with a glove to move things that we see in the air! Or are we all just starting to level out in the building boom of computers and things are just going to be more compact, lightweight, And more memory with quicker access?

Dell Latitude C610 Laptop - A Mother's Review On A Cheap, Yet High Performing Laptop Computer

I need to disclose upfront that I'm not highly technologically advanced. I know what basic features that I need in a product and I am pretty good about researching and finding them for the best price. My son insisted that he needed a sleek, lightweight, fast running dependable laptop on which he could surf the web, download music and games, do his homework, email, IM and take notes.

I insisted that although I was willing to oblige him this request, I could not justify spending more than a couple hundred dollars (or less hopefully) on a laptop that he might lose or break in no time at all. After spending hours researching cheap dependable laptop and notebook computers on the web, what I came up with was the Dell Latitude C610 model. We both could agree on this model because it suited both of our needs.

The Latitude C610 is sleek and very lightweight (under six pounds) and the battery last a whopping full four and one half (4 1/2) hours on one charge. (Even my new, expensive laptop can't compare there). The Latitude has an Intel Pentium III 750 MHz processor with 256 MB memory. This makes it a pretty quick machine. The keyboard is roomy but very quiet. The unit includes both a pointing stick and a touchpad, which is pretty rare in this class of computer. This little laptop surfs the web very quickly and doesn't get bogged down or slow even though he downloads tons of music and games on it. It has a CD drive for his games also.

The best part about the laptop to me was that it us well under $200. I got a model with a few extras for about $185. It's a really nice laptop which I often use on business trips because it is so portable. My son thinks it's the bomb and doesn't like the lend it out.

If you're looking for a loaded, functional but cheap laptop for a kid, college student, or business trips on which you can work, download music and video, surf the web, IM, email and play games, give the Dell Latitude C610 a look. You may agree with us and be glad you did.

Laptop Repair (Power Sockets)

Power Jacks/DC sockets Ever moved the laptop and forgot you had it plugged in to the mains? Had it on your lap an the dogs tripped on the cable stretched across the room? Or the kids been tugging on it to get a go of the latest game?

Every time the power cable is pulled against the socket on the laptop it stresses the solder joins that connect the socket to the mainboard inside, if these break at any time, even a fine crack will case problems your laptop will stop charging and eventually switch off when the battery power runs down. Usually if your lucky and the break isn't too bad you can move the plug into a certain position and hey presto the power is back on (I'll come back to this later). Other times no amount of wiggling around of the plug will help and you'll have to get it repaired. Worse still the centre pin of the socket breaks and the whole socket needs replacing. If any of the above happen to you, forget phoning the manufacturer to have it repaired under warranty, they won't cover it, they class it as misuse, and they'll probably quote you for a new motherboard, in a lot of cases costing nearly as much as the laptop itself. Still there's always accidental damage cover on your home insurance. You've got some haven't you? Worst comes to the worst just search for "power socket repairs" on your favourite search engine, there are plenty of independent laptop repair companies that will glady resolder a new socket for a lot less.

Going back to the slightly loose socket that when you wiggle the plug you can make it work scenario, let's take a moment to have a look at what's happening here. The fact that it works when the socket is in a specific position tells us that the break in the solder connection is now connected, and when in another position it's disconnected, so what happens when we move it around, well each time we make the connection by wiggling, we cause a spark to arc across the break, which in turn causes heat to build up and a certain amount of burning to occur. Eventually what will happen is that the arcing will cause a hole to be burnt in the systemboard where the solder join is and one day it just won't turn on anymore and the likelyhood is that it will then need the systemboard replacing. The moral here is get it looked at and put right sooner rather than later.

Some Tips About Notebook Repairing

Your laptop is dead and the guarantee passed, you have several options but they depend much on at which price you bought your laptop.

To give you an idea if you have buy your laptop between 800 and 900 dollars that will cost you approximately 80 to 120 dollars to change the battery, 250 to 300$ for the motherboard, 250$ for DVD±R/RW doublelayer multi recorder combo drive.

Well if you know the current prices for a new laptop it is really necessary to reflect before launching out in an expensive repairing. Firstly, well diagnose the source of the problem and if possible (but strongly recommended) get the service manual of your notebook and if you think that it's possible do it yourself. The service manual will be useful for you to have the reference of the bad part. Once you identified the part, seek on the Net in the various shop of spare parts to see whether you find your happiness...

Certain parts like the hard disks, the memories, the keyboard and the dvd are in general very easily accessible and replaceable at a reasonable price, but for the other parts you have to evaluate and think well, about time, price, and risks as sometime repairing is not absolutely the best choice.

You must avoid at all costs the spiral of purchasing expensive parts finalizing itself by the purchase of a new laptop.

And if you need more information about laptop disassembly I own laptop support many free laptop manuals and useful tips.

Hope that it can help you.

The Leisure Laptop - How Laptops Have Adjusted To Consumer Needs

Although laptops were originally designed for the busy traveling businessman always on the go, we lesser goal oriented mortals (college kids) can also have fun with these shiny, new babies. These are other things you can do with the technology aside from making money and keep you from getting bored:

* Surf the net on your laptop

A laptop's portability enables you to surf the net anywhere you are. On the beach, in your dorm, at your Aunt Hattie's, etc. Check out the latest and hottest buzz on entertainment news. Google your friend's latest boyfriend. Look for amusing anecdotes and pictures to send home. Check out the latest trends in fashion. Look for your high school crush and start getting re-acquainted. Find new friends and greet old ones on Friendster. Go on a virtual date with someone. Find out the origin of the word "hoopla" or if there is such a word. Chat with someone in a different timezone and in another language.

* Watch TV shows on your laptop

With the right equipment, you can watch your favorite shows on television instead of actually buying a television set. There are many portable high-definition tuners, receivers, and antennas available for laptops such as NetComm Banksia Digital HD USB TV Tuner, Elgato EyeTV DTT Stick and the ComPro VideoMate U3 DVB-T Stick.

* Watch home videos and listen to music on your laptop

Use your CD-ROM player and play whatever music or home video cd you have. You can also movies or listen to music online. You can even download music from your cell phone into your computer. If you have Windows Media Player installed you can get the latest and hottest music online. Another software, Kazaa, will allow you to share your music and videos with other Kazaa users.

* Play games on your laptop

For most of us, playing games on the computer is really what computers were made for. The variety of games available is unbelievable from racing games, to role-playing games, to I-don't-know-what-else. There are even dress-up games for kids (and kids at heart) and brain teaser games such as Sudoku. There are whole companies being built on the computer-based gaming industry alone. Online lotto is another popular game you can play on the web. There are also software based games like the ones bundled with Windows applications such as Pinball, Minesweeper, Hearts, and many more. OEM - The Hidden Laptop

What do you know about the notebook industry ? Do you know the Original Equipment Manufacturer ?

But what is a laptop OEM ?

Nowadays, the manufacturers who conceive and assemble themselves their machines are very rare. Acer, Compaq, Toshiba,Apple, Dell, Sony and others entrust at least the production to thirds.

People as Acer sell models directly drawn from the ranges of the "true" manufacturers of notebooks after some aesthetic final improvements.

Quanta and Compal (which is not Compaq) alone produce almost 50% of all the portables run out in the world. The remainder is divided between Wistron, Asus, Uniwill, Clevo, FIC, Aopen, ECS, etc.

The Research and Development part is done mainly in Taiwan, but roughly 50% of the world production are ensured in China!

It should be noted that certain cases are very amusing, like that of Asus, the manufacturer produces laptops for thirds (Sony and Apple for example), for his own brand but also his own models “without brand”.

The series TravelMate 29x of Acer comes directly from the line CL5x of Compal. But the machines like TravelMate 800 and 8000 profit of specific design from Acer (but we do not know who produces them).

Notebooks OEM are sold directly by the manufacturers to wholesalers or retailers. A little like barebones PC, part of the equipment is already included in "the case". In the case of the laptops, they include all except: processor, memory, hard disk, optical reader and wifi.

Why Rugged Laptops Are Great For Those That Work Outdoors

If your job requires you to be outdoors on a regular basis you may want to consider getting a rugged laptop computer. Information is vital to almost every task in this day and age and being without your computer can cause delays and losses in both time and money. Having to send your laptop in for repairs costs more than just the cost of having the computer fixed when you factor in the lost time, productivity and ability to do your work on it. A rugged laptop is built for your lifestyle and meant to handle even the toughest outdoor situations.

Rugged laptops are specially designed to withstand the elements. They have sealed keyboards and casings that do not allow any moisture to enter the computer so they are protected from various weather hazards including rain, snow, sleet and hail. It is important to keep in mind that even excess humidity can cause damage to a plastic laptop, but a rugged laptop will keep the excess moisture from getting inside and destroying your components or screen. When your job requires you to work "no matter what" you absolutely need a ruggedized laptop that can stand up to any kind of conditions.

A rugged laptop is also made from tougher materials to withstand shocks such as being dropped or bumping around from driving in a truck. For military personnel, law enforcement, construction workers and anyone who spends a good deal of time working outdoors, a ruggedized laptop is an absolute must. These rugged notebooks are also designed with extra protection against vibrations so the vital components of your computer including the hard drive, display will remain in good functioning condition even after regular driving in difficult terrain or in a construction vehicle.

You can use your ruggedized laptop for any applications you would use a standard laptop for, although you may not have quite as much speed. Something has to give in order to make the laptop weather resistant and durable; there is less air flow and heat displacement so the components are usually a little slower. For people in these types of demanding professions, this is a welcome sacrifice to have a computer that lasts despite the constant abuse they put it through. A fast computer that breaks the first time it falls to the ground or gets rained on won't be fast at all.

Obviously, a rugged laptop is the only logical choice for anyone who works outside. These computers cost a little more, but the durability and reliability they offer more than compensates for the difference in price. You could easily go through two plastic laptops during the lifetime of one ruggedized laptop. They are several manufacturers of rugged laptops and each offer the features mentioned above such as weatherproofing and vibration protection along with their own unique benefits and style. When choosing which rugged notebook is right for you, you will want to consider where you will be using it, what applications you need to run, the price and the overall look of the computer. There are several styles to choose from so finding the right one for you should be a breeze.

Some Reasons Why You Should Buy A Laptop From The Internet

If your personal computer is totally broken, will you consider buy a new PC? Most people won't do that because they believe laptop offers better features than PC. Even if you are a homeboy, laptop is still better. When you want to watch a movie and play games together at the same time, you can bring your laptop with you to the sofa in front of your television. This mean laptop is still a better choice even if you love to spend your free time at home.

Now there are plenty of choices when you decide to buy a new laptop. You can simply walk to a store and choose a laptop there but usually you do not have enough options. For me, buying a laptop online is definitely a better choice. You can compare price and specification from all popular brands. The competition on the online market even made everything better for us, especially from the price point of view.

Usually the prices on the online market are cheaper than in real world because the situation is different. Laptop retailers in real world buy laptops from the manufacturers before they sell the products to us. On internet, laptop retailers usually do not buy anything. Once someone makes an offer, they will contact the laptop manufacturer then they will get their commission. My point is, you can expect for cheaper price on the internet than in the real world. You can even compare the prices from one website to another website if you want to.

The best thing we'll get from the internet is the review. Not all of us know what kind of laptop is good for our business or for our gaming needs. However, almost all popular laptop websites provide review for each laptop. With this, we will know how many features that each laptop provides, how good the graphics card is, and how reliable these laptops are. Because of these reasons, I prefer buy a new laptop online than from the real world.

5 Tips to Consider Before Buying a Laptop Computer

There are many considerations to take into account before plopping down a large sum of money for a laptop computer. Consider first what you will be using your portable computer for, and then select the laptop that takes care of those needs. For example, if you just need a laptop to check your e-mail, light internet surfing, and word processing, you can probably get by with spending around $500 for a laptop. Here are some general guide lines to keep in mind, and make your decision a little easier.

  1. Look for a laptop with alternate technology especially if you're on a budget. For example, a notebook utilizing an AMD processor is generally cheaper than one using an Intel processor.
  2. Choose a laptop that has at least 512 MB of memory. If that isn't possible, make sure that the laptop is upgradeable to 512 MB or more of RAM memory.
  3. It makes sense that the faster the processor clock speed is the faster your computer will run your programs. Choose a laptop with at least a 1.6 Ghz processor. This speed should put you in the Pentium 4 or higher class of CPUs.
  4. Select a laptop from one of the top manufactures such as Dell, Gateway, or Toshiba. This will insure you can get parts and service if you ever need them.
  5. Lastly, make sure your laptop has wireless capabilities. Many businesses and institutions across the US now offer free wireless web access. Most laptops manufactured in the last 3 years have this type of technology. If you are a road warrior this is a must have feature.

Free Laptop For Students

A computer or laptop machine is now essential equipment for every student in his or studies. With the latest technology and easy reference that the Internet is providing any school works or papers, the rate on the need for a computer or laptop is now heightening. However, not all students can afford to buy their own computer or laptop as it is very expensive to buy one. So, most students are now aiming for the opportunity of securing a free laptop for their studies.

All levels of students would want to achieve free laptop opportunity. Students in colleges, high schools, and middle schools would always prefer to access the Internet for their school assignments. They believe that Internet is always the best source and most convenient source of any information as compared to the school library. It only proves that Internet technology is now becoming a vast necessity for every student on their school assignments. Students also believe that Internet is the biggest data of information where they can get every bit of information to be more advanced and sophisticated. Also, the students also loved researching for unlimited information to satisfy their curiosity and answers on a particular topic. There are some institutions, corporate houses and organization that give away free laptops to deserving students.

This idea does not literally means of supplying or providing freebees. It refers to the giving of free laptop to students in college or university whenever there is a need. The computers or laptops have been a basic necessity for all learning environments. Among the institutions that provide laptops include some corporate businesses, foundations and grants. However, the granting of machines for students still needs to pass certain criteria prior to granting. It iss is also part of some online promotional services that often give away some products that include computers or laptops just by participating their marketing campaigns.

The tremendous need for a computer or laptop machine by individuals especially the students only proves that there is an extreme need of technology. This is one big realization for more organizations to be generous and charitable enough in providing free laptop for students. These organizations should realize that their help is needed by students who cannot afford the utilization or owning of a computer or laptop machine.

Feminine Laptop Bags

Functionally chic women's laptop bags are hard to come by. One of my biggest complaints, and I've heard this from my friends too, is finding a women's laptop bag that's both feminine and functional. Most business women don't want to carry around a pink briefcase with flowers on it, or lug around a bag meant for a 6ft tall man. And why does it seem that most women's laptop cases don't have shoulder support? Men have so many cool options; they can go, techy or sophisticated, casual or urban. All they have to do is walk into a store and find a plethora of laptop bags to choose from.

I have gone on a search and found some pretty good options. My favorite is the bag by Hayden Harnett. It's not stiff like a lot of the laptop bags for women that I've seen, and it has a long adjustable shoulder strap.

MARC BY MARC JACOBS Lovely Behati Tote -$458

This supple leather tote is punctuated by bold, logo-etched rivets and soft pleating detail. Menswear-inspired pinstriped cotton twill lines the interior but still looks feminine. The top zip closure keeps your laptop and papers secure.

Celine Springbok Large Tote - $1,750

Yes, it's more than a bit spendy for a briefcase, but this bag screams luxury. Calf hair with smooth leather trim and an adjustable and removable flat leather shoulder strap with buckles, along with an interior leather-trimmed cell phone pocket, patch pocket, and zipped pocket are the perfect combination of opulence and function.

Hayden-Harnett Catalina Slouchy Laptop Brief - $473

Functional for an every-day workbag but not lacking in style. Adjust the strap to wear it across your body, or carry it by its padded handles. With a zippered top, and padded compartment, it keeps your stuff safe while sporting exterior slit and turnlock closure pockets for quick access.

Penelope Business Tote - $199

Who would've thought a business/laptop tote could be so stylish and so practical? Loaded with interior pockets, a plush notebook computer compartment, and sturdy brass hardware, the Penelope tote is ready for the most rigorous Road Warrior treatment. But, thanks to its graceful dome and the embossed crocodile pattern on its soft leather exterior, only you will know it's more than a chic handbag.

The Ansley Bag -$299

The Ansley Bag in Fawn combines canvas and leather for a stylish and practical addition to your bag collection (except this one pulls double duty as a laptop bag). With a coordinating laptop sleeve that holds a 15 ½" laptop, the Ansley bag is scaled to hold other necessities such as your wallet, keys and cell phone, you won't want to leave home without it.

Diane Von Furstenberg Lizard on the Go Flap Brief - $120

A stylish women's laptop bag doesn't have to cost a bundle. Snug this DVF bag with fully padded laptop compartment and top zip closure (hurry, it won't last long!). The bag also includes lots of business accessory compartments for all of your "stuff".

Mango Tango Faux Croc Laptop Bag in brown - $23.99

This bags color will accompany any wardrobe nicely. An extremely functional bag with plenty of room to store a laptop and several of its larger accessories. A stylish bag that will not break the bank. It's cheap and chic, you can't beat that! Get one before they're gone.

I hope these options will help alleviate the challenge of trying to search for a laptop bag which has a perfect combination of functionality and femininity.

How To Replace Your Laptop Computer's LCD

Laptop computers have been around for ages. Just as a human, laptop computers also age. Along with age comes broken or damaged parts. Hence, you either have to replace the laptop computer or repair the broken parts. One of the most expensive parts of a computer to replace is the monitor, commonly called the LCD.

LCD stands for liquid crystal display - the technology used to make the flat panel screens and laptop computer screens.

Some common reasons that might make you consider replacing your laptop computer's LCD are (1) the screen has been cracked; (2) you want to upgrade the standard computer screen that came with your unit to a higher resolution LCD screen; or(3) there are lots of dead spaces on your screen which might come from dead pixels.

If you want to tackle the task of replacing your laptop computer's LCD, consider the following steps to ensure that you perform the replacement seamlessly.

Step One
Power off your laptop computer and disconnect the battery and all cables. You will also want to remove the battery as it could cause an electric shock if it remains installed through the process.

Step Two
Remove the rubber screw covers to expose the screws that hold the screen frame in place.

Step Three
Gently pry the LCD screen frame loose. You should then be able to find the LCD screen cable and power cord. Unplug both of these and remove the tape (if any) that is holding the screen in place.

Step Four
You will next need to find out who the manufacturer of your laptop computer's LCD screen is. Keep in mind that the screen's manufacturer might not be the same as the manufacturer of the computer. Ensure that you match the screen that you purchase matches the screen's manufacturer model number.

Step Five
Once you have obtained the appropriate replacement screen, plug the new LSD screen in, secure it with tape, and replace the frame. Be cautious not to crimp any cords when you replace the frame.

Step Six
When you power up your laptop computer, your LCD screen should work properly. If it doesn't, call the supplier where you purchased your replacement screen and ask for technical help.

If you decide that it would be cheaper or easier to replace your entire laptop computer, visit my website, The Cheap Laptop Store to buy new, used, or refurbished laptop computers.

Best Laptop Computers for College Students

1. Overview
Before we look at the laptops most suitable for college students, we should understand what makes a good student laptop. Typically, a student would want a laptop that's lightweight and comfortable enough to lug to and from their various classes. In addition, the laptop has to have great battery life and performance. And price is sometimes a concern, so the above features need to be packed into an affordable package.

After considering the types of laptops suitable for college students, I've decided to split them into three categories: budget, thin and light and ultraportable. So let's take a look at them now ...

2. Budget Laptops
For a college student who is short on cash, a budget laptop is a good buy. Some of the best budget laptops include those from Dell, Toshiba and HP. I personally find the Toshiba Satellite A215-S4747 to be a great budget laptop. You get an AMD based dual core CPU, which perfroms very well with most applications. You also get a huge 200GB hard drive and a large number of peripheral ports.

There's also a nice Sony VGN-NR160E/S model that is (surprisingly) within the budget category. Out of the box, this machine gives you the Intel Core 2 Duo T5250 processor, 1 GB of RAM and a large 160GB hard drive - that's a lot of computing power at budget price.

3. Thin and Light Laptops
If you prefer a more powerful laptop and don't mind a little bit of weight, then try going for a thin and light laptop. Some of the models I can think of include those from Lenovo, HP and Sony.

The Sony VAIO VGN-FZ280E is a pretty good choice for a thin and light notebook. This system comes with a Bluray compatible writer that can also burn CDs and DVDs. You also get an Intel Core 2 Duo 2.0GHz CPU, 2GB RAM and a very large 250GB hard drive.

Another model I'd consider is the HP Pavilion dv6675us. You will get an Intel Core 2 Duo 2.0GHz CPU, 4GB RAM and 250GB of hard drive space. The 4GB of RAM is a great feature which will come in handy if you're a student of finance or science and need to run intensive computational applications.

4. Ultraportable Laptops
If the size and weight of the laptop is of high importance to you, then go for an ultraportable laptop. These laptops give very good computing performance in a very small, compact package.

In this category, I think the Lenovo ThinkPad X61 is a great choice for students. It is slightly pricey (but not outrageously so) but it is one of the best performing laptops around. It weighs only about 3 pounds and is hence an extremely portable piece of hardware. You also get an Intel Core 2 Duo 2.0GHz CPU, 2GB RAM and an ample 100GB hard drive. You don't get a built-in DVD writer though - that unit is external to the laptop.

Another good choice is the Toshiba Portege R500-S5001X. It weights 2.4 pounds and is less than an inch thick. This is one of the thinnest and lightest notebooks you will find in the market. It's also very reasonably priced.

Conclusion
Well! I hope this article has shown you the various types of laptops which are suitable for college students. Regardless of your needs and budget, make sure that you do proper research before shelling out any cash. Until next time, best of luck and happy shopping!

Finding the Best Laptop Computer

If you are in the market, then you'll want to find the best laptop computer for you. Note that last phrase "for you" because it is a critical part of the purchase process. Too often people interpret "best" in the wrong way - most expensive, slickest, fastest, or state-of-the-art bleeding edge technology. The best notebook computers are tools that meet your own needs without unneeded features or expenses. So begin at the beginning.

First, you need to consider your budget. The best laptop computer for a college student is unlikely to be in the same price range as a machine that a graphics designer needs. Most people probably overestimate their needs and end up either paying too much or paying for the wrong features. Before you start narrowing things down, settle on your budget. A college student probably doesn't need to spend a small fortune on top of their other expenses. You should also be sure you truly need a laptop and, if so, whether it will be your only machine. If most of your work will be done on a desk top machine and you only need a laptop when traveling, you should be able to keep your costs down. But, if it's going to be the machine you do everything on, you will likely have to spend more.

The only real advantage to a notebook computer is that they are portable. They are more expensive than desktop systems to begin with and they are also harder (and more expensive) to repair or upgrade. For a college student they can be essential if you need to carry one to class and take it with you on vacations or trips home. If you work in multiple locations without desktop systems in each, you also need a laptop. If you travel and need a computer on your trips, you sure don't want to lug a desktop with you. Weight can be an issue to consider if you plan to do a lot of carrying. But there can be a trade-off - lightweight often means a smaller screen and keyboard and shorter battery life.

In terms of budget you do have some choices you may not have thought of that can reduce your cost or get you more machine than you expected. Discontinued models, older models, and factory reconditioned notebook computers are often available at substantial discounts. Last year's best notebook computers are often this year's best deal. If you do look at reconditioned machines make sure they were reconditioned by the manufacturer and come with the same warranty a new machine has. I've used the same factory reconditioned notebook daily for close to 5 years - it was an incredibly good deal so keep the possibility in mind.

Now you need to analyze what you are going to use your laptop for: will you be doing a lot of intensive data applications or graphics applications; do you need it to play high end games; will you be using in places or in ways that may require a ruggedized system; will you just be primarily writing documents, using the internet and doing email; do you need wireless connectivity; what external devices might you connect and what kind of connectors do they need; do you need to be able to write DVDs/CDs or just read them. You may also want to consider whether how the laptop looks is important. That may seem superficial, but under certain circumstances such as high level business meetings, style could be an important feature of your best laptop computer.

The more complex and intense the applications are that you will be using, the faster a CPU and the more RAM and hard disk space you may need. Operating systems and programs are using more and more CPU, memory and disk space all the time so this is not a trivial issue. These days I'd suggest that a minimum configuration should include at least a 1.5 GHz CPU, 1 Gigabyte of RAM and a 60 Gigabyte disk drive. A DVD/CD reader is a minimum and most people will probably want the ability to also write DVDs and CDs.

Before you actually start looking, use paper and a pen, go over your needs and requirements and write them down. Essentially you want to create a checklist to compare to the features of models that interest you. Once you get started, keep your budget firmly in mind. Often you'll find the best price for your personal best laptop computer online. If you can, before you actually buy, find the same model in an offline store and check the screen size, the keyboard and how the weight feels to you. Weight may be less important but you may also be carrying other accessories. The screen and keyboard are critical components for comfortably using your computer. Don't settle for a screen that's too small or a keyboard that feels cheap or clumsy. Take the time and put in the effort to make sure you end up with the model that suits you best.

Laptop Buying Guide - Should You Buy An Ultra Thin Notebook Computer?

Several of the major computer manufacturers now offer ultra thin, very sleek and, above all, fantastic looking small laptops. Sony recently launched their TZ Ultraportable and in January 2008 Apple unveiled the MacBook Air. These laptops are at the cutting edge of available consumer computer technology and their unique selling point is how portable and lightweight they are. However, these are expensive laptops and the question remains - will you be getting good value for money?

The first thing to consider is exactly what you will be using your new laptop for. These ultra thin laptops maybe small, but this comes at the expense of power. They are not the most powerful laptops available because the manufacturers have had to closely pack all the components in. If you are going to be editing movies or running other power hungry applications you should go for the most powerful laptop you can get for your budget.

Secondly you should consider how much you travel with your computer, how long for and what you do with it when you do travel. These ultra portable laptops are extremely thin and particularly easy to transport, but how hard is your current laptop to carry around? For example, if you were to buy a MacBook Air you have to consider that it does not have an interchangeable battery. If you travel for long periods of time without access to power then after the battery runs out you have to wait to charge it. With a larger, more traditional laptop you could simply replace the battery with a spare one. There is a great deal of compromise in these ultra portable laptops and you need to truly assess your requirements (everything from connection ports to screen size) before committing. It may be that a laptop just ½ an inch thicker is more suitable.

Finally, there is one more important aesthetic to consider before you purchase a new laptop and that is the style factor. Ultra portable laptops are at the lead edge of personal computer technology and they look sensational. Do you want to be just another commuter with a standard laptop on the train, or would you prefer to stand out from the crowd with an laptop so compact it oozed style and design cool. The answer to that question can only be decided by you.

At Buy Macbook Air you will find a guide to the new MacBook Air, reviews and discussions about this and other thin notebook computers.

Laptop Technology & You!

Technology is quick. New innovations are taking place even as you read this article. Laptop technology changes ever two years or less, but that’s okay. This is what upgrades are for!

All of the new laptop technology terms are hard to keep up with, especially for the laptop newbie. Graphics chipset, CPU, 64-bit … what does this all mean? Well, it is important to be up to date and understand all of these laptops terms in order to get the best bang for your buck when it comes to modern laptops. After all, small laptops are now outselling their desktop predecessors, and for good reason: Laptops out-performing desktops entirely!

So, below is a cheat sheet that will help you better understand the new laptop technologies as of 2007.

Sonoma Chipset
This is Intel’s new, next-generation chipset, and already it has club members—sonny, BenQ, Dell, Acer, Toshiba, and more! The Sonoma Chipset will, no doubt, become the standard for many of the high-end laptops coming out soon, as this chipset is faster and has a much better battery life than it forerunners. Mobile professionals, especially, will be wowed by Sonoma Chipset because wireless connections will be easier with the integrated tri-mode 802.11a/b/g. This makes it easier to stay connected no matter where you are online. Hi-Def Audio, PCI Express, and integrated graphics also make this stellar chipset stand out.

PCI Express
PCI (Peripheral Component Interconnect) Express is a new standard for expansion cards. This is a great improvement that will make your laptop run faster.

Laptop Battery Tips

When you first bring home your laptop, you may not think that taking care of the included battery is just as important as taking care of the laptop itself. Well, it is.

It is very common for new laptop owners to think that they have a faulty battery, when, in fact, the battery is just fine and only needs conditioning. So, here are some helpful laptop battery tips in order get the most out of your batteries:

1). First of all, below is a list of terms to help you better understand the laptop battery conditioning process:
Condition—The charge/discharge process. This will increase battery runtime and lifetime.
Charge—Overnight charge with AC adaptor plugged into a socket.
Discharge—Fully exhausting your battery's power.
Runtime—The period of time your battery will last.

2). It is more important than you think to take care of you new laptop battery by using a simple charging cycle (cycle = one full charge, one full discharge). A charging cycle will ensure a long lifetime from your battery, and save you some money and frustration in the process.

Before you use your laptop battery, it is highly recommended that you fully cycle and condition it. All new batteries should be fully conditioned for eight to 20 cycles. If not, you will not receive the optimum runtime from your new laptop battery. Laptop batteries typically take eight to ten charges and discharges to reach full capacity. If the batteries do not reach full capacity, expect a lower performance.

3). The LED’s and charge indicator on your laptop will not give you accurate information until the battery is fully conditioned. Follow these instructions:

If your laptop indicates that charging is complete after about 15 minutes, this is normal.
Remove the battery from your laptop and repeat the charging process.
Repeat charging procedure a minimum of eight times within the next few fays.

4). Another type of battery sold are Nickel Cadmium (NiCd) rechargeable batteries. These are typically found in camcorders, power tool, laptop computers, and mobile phones.

5). In the U.K., they are eliminating mercury from their products because of the mercury hazards. However, a small number of batteries that contain mercury are still imported from abroad. If you want to get rid of your batteries for any reason, check with the manufacturer of the laptop batteries to see if they operate a recycling or take-back plan.

Hopefully, you have found these laptop battery tips helpful. You will notice how much better your laptop batteries run after you incorporate this conditioning process.

What to Look for When Choosing a Gaming Laptop

Gaming is all the rage nowadays. What used to be niche group of game players is now mainstream. This means that the gaming laptop has really come into its own. Gamers have a lot of options now in the area of laptops.

Gamers demand a lot out of their laptops. They tend to know a lot about computers and they know what they want. They like to order their gaming laptops with their own specs and configurations, essentially creating their own “Dream Machines.” If you are a gamer, here are some of the factors you should consider when choosing the best gaming laptop out there:

1.) Graphics
Well, this is a given. Of course you want awesome graphics. Your game-playing enjoyment practically depends on it. This should be your first area of consideration when choosing a laptop computer. Graphics make your laptop capable of many things, such as wide-screen HDTV, mobile video editing studio, and 3D games. Look for a laptop that includes integrated graphics and a large amount of video RAM. Some Graphic Chipsets that are highly rated include:
Intel’s Graphics Media Accelerator 900
Mobility Radeon 9700
ATI's Mobility FireGL V3200

2). Speed, Baby, Speed!
The speed of processors is known as clock speed, and is measured in megahertz (MHz) or in gigahertz (GHz). The higher the clock speed, the faster your laptop will work.

Get the fastest computer you can afford in order to receive the maximum performance from your gaming laptop. It’s that simple. Your laptop must be able to process the latest 3D games easily, or expect the worst to happen—freeze up. Our suggestion is to go with a SATA (Serial Advanced Technology Architecture) processor. SATA processors are advanced and use less power. They are perfect for laptops. Or, when in doubt, you are always safe with a Pentium.

And, always be aware of your hard drive speed. A 7,200rpm hard drive is faster than a 4,200rpm or 5,400rpm. The faster the hard drive, the better the performance, as well.

Loads of RAM
A lot of RAM (Random-Access Memory) is good. LOADS of RAM is better. In other words, get as much RAM as possible. This will determine how much graphics your laptop can handle. You need at least 246MB for Windows XP and Mac OS X.

Also check out DDR2-SDRAM. This is a new standard that can boost SDRAM memory up to speeds over 200MHz! And Video RAM or VRAM, is special memory that is used by video adaptors on your laptop. This specifically handles the graphic and is helpful when you play the latest 3D games on your laptop.

Display
Don’t forget, you need the brightest, sharpest display screen around to fully appreciate the utter coolness of modern gaming. What you need to keep in mind is this: SVA Resolution. In other words, images are made up of pixels or dots. The more pixels you have, the better the image. SVGA Resolution is made up of 800 x 600 pixels, which is very good.

So, in conclusion:
High Graphics + Speed + RAM + Display = Awesome Gaming Laptop Bliss. Enough said.
